Axcis Education is currently recruiting on behalf of a warm and welcoming special needs school in Harrow for a SEND Teaching Assistant to start in September 2025. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity working with pupils who have Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), many of whom require personal care and close 1:1 or small group support.
The school is known for its inclusive ethos, strong multidisciplinary team, and commitment to providing personalised learning for pupils with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting students with PMLD in both classroom and care-based activities
Assisting with personal care, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene
Helping deliver bespoke education plans in collaboration with teachers and therapists
Using specialist communication tools such as Makaton, PECS, or AAC systems
Encouraging independence and well-being for each child
Maintaining a calm, nurturing, and structured environment
Essential Requirements:
Experience working with children or young adults with PMLD or complex needs
Comfortable providing personal care as part of the daily routine
Patient, resilient, and committed to inclusive education
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
Right to work in the UK
Desirable Skills/Training:
Manual handling, safeguarding, or medical training (e.g., gastrostomy, epilepsy awareness)
Relevant TA qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning)
