Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant (Primary)
Axcis Education are working with a mainstream village primary school to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Primary Teaching Assistant, with a specialization in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), to join our inclusive and supportive team at a mainstream primary school located in Okehampton, Devon.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the class teacher to create a secure, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that caters to the needs of all pupils, with a particular focus on children with SEND.
- Provide tailored support to children with SEND, either within the classroom or in a separate setting as required, to help them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
- Employ a variety of strategies to promote positive behavior and engagement in learning activities.
- Monitor and record the progress of pupils with additional needs, and contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Assist with the adaptation of teaching materials and methods to meet diverse learning requirements.
- Support with personal care needs of pupils as necessary, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
- Foster effective relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external agencies involved in the children's education.
- Attend and contribute to meetings and training sessions relevant to the role.
- Maintain a safe and organized learning environment, ensuring resources are well-managed and prepared as needed.
