									Location: Waddon, Croydon
Days: Monday, Thursday, and Friday
Contract: Until the end of the academic year (July 2026)
About the Role
We are working alongside a welcoming mainstream primary school in Waddon who are seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to support a KS2 pupil with complex behavioural needs. This is a part-time position (3 days per week), ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.
You’ll be working closely with one pupil on a 1:1 basis, providing tailored support both in the classroom (for short periods) and in designated SEND spaces for individual learning sessions.
The Pupil
The child you’ll be supporting presents with ADHD and some ASD traits, and displays behaviours such as swearing, hitting out, throwing objects, and making noises. The school has noticed he responds particularly well to firm, consistent boundaries and to adults who can build trust and rapport through shared interests — especially sports like football and running.
Key Responsibilities
•	Provide consistent 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil with complex behavioural needs
•	Adapt learning tasks and communication to meet the child’s individual needs
•	Manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively, following school strategies
•	Support the pupil to engage in classroom activities for short periods (around 5 minutes per hour)
•	Deliver focused 1:1 learning in SEND spaces for the remainder of lessons
•	Implement regular movement breaks and sensory regulation activities
•	Build positive relationships with the pupil, staff, and wider support team
Requirements
Strong experience supporting children with challenging behaviour and SEND (especially ADHD and ASD)
Previous KS2 experience in a mainstream or specialist setting
Confident in setting and maintaining clear, consistent boundaries
Able to stay calm under pressure and respond to behaviour with understanding and structure
Experience using movement breaks and sensory strategies to support regulation
(Desirable) Active or sporty personality – able to engage the pupil through shared interests
