Position Overview: As a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all students, regardless of their abilities or challenges, receive the support and guidance they need to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with students, teachers, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement effective strategies that promote inclusion and remove barriers to learning. Key Responsibilities: Lead the provision of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support across the school, ensuring that all students with SEND have access to high-quality education and support. Collaborate with teachers to identify students with SEND and develop personalized learning plans that meet their individual needs. Provide guidance and support to teachers in implementing effective teaching strategies and accommodations for students with SEND. Work closely with parents/carers to ensure that their perspectives and concerns are incorporated into the planning and delivery of support services. Liaise with external agencies, including educational psychologists, speech therapists, and social workers, to access additional support and resources for students with SEND. Maintain accurate records of students with SEND, including assessments, progress reports, and support plans. Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in SEND education. Qualifications and Experience: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification. Recognized qualification in Special Educational Needs Coordination (SENCo) or willingness to work towards obtaining one. Proven experience working with students with SEND, preferably in a school setting. Excellent knowledge of SEND legislation, policies, and best practices. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies. Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity in education.
