Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Weymouth, Dorset
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
Pay Rate: £89–£95 per day
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a warm, inclusive primary school in Weymouth. The school is committed to achieving the best outcomes for every pupil—academically, socially, and emotionally. With a strong focus on nurturing the whole child, the school promotes core values for life and provides a supportive environment where all learners can thrive.
In this role, you will support pupils with Special Educational Needs both in the classroom and within the Inclusion Hub, helping them engage positively in their learning and make meaningful progress.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide tailored 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN, ensuring their individual needs are met and inclusion is encouraged
• Assist with lesson delivery, behaviour management, and resource preparation
• Encourage and track progress in key areas such as reading, writing, and mathematics
• Record observations and contribute to assessments and IEP review meetings
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement effective support strategies
Person Specification
• Previous experience supporting children with SEN or working as a Teaching Assistant (essential)
• Patient, adaptable, and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Level 2/3 TA qualification (desirable)
• Commitment to safeguarding and willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check
