SEMH Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Permanent) | Theale (RG7)
Start: ASAP | Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
A specialist SEND secondary school in Theale is seeking a nurturing and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a straight permanent role a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for long-term stability in a rewarding SEND environment.
The school supports students with a range of additional needs including ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, and SEMH, and is committed to providing a structured, supportive environment where every young person can succeed. You will work with secondary-aged students (11–16), supporting them 1:1 and in small groups to access learning, develop confidence, and manage their behaviour positively.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supporting students with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and Dyslexia
• Delivering engaging, adapted activities alongside the class teacher
• Using effective behaviour management strategies
• Helping build a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.
• Collaborating with staff, families, and external professionals
Key Requirements:
• A Level 3 qualification (in any subject, UK equivalency not required)
• Minimum 3 months’ experience working with SEND students in a school setting.
• A GCSE 4 in Maths and English (or equivalent)
• Confident in managing challenging behaviour with a calm, patient, and supportive approach.
• Willing to commute to RG7 (up to an hour via public transport)
• Committed to full-time, long-term permanent work.
• No personal care involved in this role.
This is a permanent position and pay will be discussed based on experience and the company’s competitive rate policy.
