Axcis Education are working alongside a mainstream secondary school in Tiverton, who are looking for a full time SEND teaching assistant to support pupils aged 11 - 16 years in KS3, with a range of learning needs including ASD in their resource base. The role is full time, working hours from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.
This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to work with small groups or on a 1-1 basis. Due to the needs of the children you must have experience in a school setting supporting students with autism. The children can display challenging behaviour and it is important that the chosen candidate has expereince in this behaviour.
The school is a large mainstream secondary school in Tiverton which has a specific unit for all pupils with ASD and additional needs. They have several members of staff who support the students on a 1-1 and small group basis, occasionally within the mainstream class setting and sometimes in the unit.
The school offers a large car park and is only a 15 minute walk from all transport links. The school is passionate that all children at the school have the same opportunities. Due to this belief their SEND development is fantastic. Within this role the candidate will learn new skills and have the opportunity for further training to develop your CV and abilities.
You will not need any qualifications, just a can do attitude and the ability to manage challenging behaviour with knowledge and experience supporting children with Autism.
