Primary SEN Teacher, Autism Resource Base, S.Glos. - South Gloucestershire - Role: SEND Teacher Jobs
A lovely primary school in South Gloucestershire is looking for a Early Years (4-7 years) Primary SEN Teacher, to lead classes within the schools Resource Base for students with a diagnosis of Social and Communications conditions, most specifically, on the autistic spectrum (ASC/ASD). All students within the Resource Base have a statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN).
The school implements the TEACCH structure and uses augmentative communications strategies such as PECS, where necessary. Therefore, the ideal Primary SEN Teacher will have experience using these strategies to promote learning, within a similar setting. The class is supported by two Teaching Assistants (TA), who are on hand to assist where needed. There is a large emphasis in using play to develop social skills; therefore the Primary SEN Teacher will be familiar with the use of Social Stories
The ideal Primary SEN Teacher will be available full time and be fully qualified, with QTS. Furthermore, the school are looking for a Primary SEN Teacher that is calm, professional and confident teaching within an SEN setting. Those with experience implementing IEPs/ behavioural plans will be at an advantage.
