Axcis have a vacancy for a behaviour support teaching assistant at a well respected secondary pupil referral unit in Street. The role is part time morning only five days a week 8:30-12:30pm. You will be providing general in class support and will be supporting the teacher and working with small groups of up to seven children. The pupil referral unit has a "good" Ofsted rating and is well respected in the local community. There is excellent potential for progression in this pupil referral unit, with many staff being taken onto permanent contracts after a short period of supply work.
For this position you will need to be an experienced behaviour support LSA with effective classroom management skills. You must have a calm nature and ability to de-escalate situations. Empathy and understanding are a must as many of the children have difficult home lives and this is their last chance to get an education. This is your chance to really make a difference in these children's lives. The right candidate will have experience of working with students who have SEMH needs and challenging behaviour and preferably will have Team Teach training.
