About the Role
Axcis is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join the Year 2 team. You will play a vital role in supporting children’s early learning foundations, focusing on phonics and early maths, helping to build their confidence and independence within the classroom.
In this role, you will:
-Provide structured 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with SEND needs, including ASD
-Assist with phonics lessons, ideally using Read Write Inc or similar programs
-Support early maths activities and other curriculum areas
-Adapt resources to meet individual pupil needs
-Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support
-Foster independence by teaching routines, self-care, and learning strategies
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
-Experience as a Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant in Key Stage 1 (Year 2)
-Strong knowledge of phonics and early maths
-Experience supporting pupils with additional needs, including ASD or ADHD
-A calm, flexible, and patient approach
-Excellent teamwork skills and ability to liaise with teachers, therapists, and leadership
-Availability for the full academic year
Requirements:
-Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
-Experience working with primary-aged pupils with SEND
-Knowledge of the UK curriculum
