JOB LOCATION:

Axcis is working with a fantastic Secondary Pupil Referral Unit in Fishponds, Bristol who are seeking to employ an English Teacher to work part time on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10-2pm. You will need to be experienced teaching children with challenging behaviour, ADHD and SEMH. The Pupil referral unit has much smaller classes than in mainstream with most classes having around 8-10 pupils and additional teaching assistants. The PRU uses alternative teaching methods such as Thrive and has excellent parking facilities. This role starts immediately and will at least go on till Easter. The ideal candidate must have experience teaching English to secondary aged children in KS3 and KS4. The pupils at this PRU have been excluded from mainstream school and can display very challenging behaviour but many are working towards their GCSE's. You must be calm, patient, and compassionate and have effective classroom management skills to be considered for this role. You don't need to have worked in a PRU before but you will need to have worked with pupils with similar needs. The successful candidate will have a positive, can-do attitude and a resilient personality, with a creative and flexible approach to teaching which builds success through challenge, personalisation and innovation. You will be calm and professional role model able to get through to these children and to really make a difference in their lives. To be put forward for this role you will need to come in and register with us and we will need you to have a valid DBS on the update service and at least two references. As sponsors of the National Autistic Society and other notable SEND organisations, Axcis takes its duty of care to the profession seriously and we do our best to find only the best staff for the schools we work with. Axcis offers competitive rates of pay, a fantastic referral system (which pays up to £250 for referring your friends or family members to us) as well as useful SEND resources in our giveaways (see our Facebook page for more information on this!) This is a temporary position. If you are interested, then please contact Charise Clarke at Axcis Education on 0117 373 6127.

This is a temporary position unless otherwise stated.

Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.

Axcis is an equal opportunities employer. The company is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All staff will be subject to our stringent vetting procedures, which include an enhanced DBS, full work history, references and a face-to-face interview.
