Job Title: PACE Trained Staff Needed
Axcis Education are working with a SEN school in Exeter who are looking for a full-time learning support assistant who are familiar with the PACE approach. If you have been a carer, support worker, foster parent or LSA and are trained in playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy we want to hear from you! The school caters for around 70 students aged 11 – 18 who are school refusers, they have an education health care plan presenting high anxiety and autism. The school visit Haldon Forest once a week, have a 2-hour P.E lesson and a 1 ½ hour cooking lesson every day. The school is a calm setting which is vital in the development of the pupils. There is a therapy dog on site as well as a speech and language therapist who works with individual students. Your role will be working in either a KS3 or KS4 class no more than 9 pupils, working alongside the Teacher supporting the pupils in their education, social and emotional needs. The pupils all have high anxiety and need a nurturing and calm approach. The school use the PACE approach in all their teachings to help secure attachments with the child and build a safe space for open communication. This role starts ASAP on a full-time basis working Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 4pm. This is a long-term role with the potential of going permanent for the right candidate. It is important that constancy is met for the pupil’s anxiety. If you cannot commit to 5 days a week this is not the right role for you. Local transport links are well provided to the school and they pay the rate of £85 - £95 per day.
