Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Pay: £92.63 per day Job Type: Full-Time, Monday to Friday (8:30am - 4:00pm) Start Date: Immediate Axcis Education is recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist Alternative Provision in Solihull. This rewarding role involves supporting a small cohort of secondary-aged students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, and barriers to education. The provision offers a highly supportive and structured environment, helping young people re-engage with learning, develop positive coping strategies, and achieve their full potential. This opportunity would suit a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker, or Care Worker who has experience supporting young people with additional needs and challenging behaviours. The Role As a Learning Support Assistant, you will: • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH needs. • Build positive and consistent relationships with young people who may have experienced difficulties in mainstream education. • Support students in managing their emotions and behaviours both inside and outside the classroom. • Promote engagement, attendance, and participation in learning activities. • Encourage positive behaviour and help students develop social and emotional skills. • Support the delivery of personalised learning and intervention programmes. • Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to meet individual student needs. • Act as a positive role model and provide a calm, consistent presence throughout the school day. • Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment. Requirements To be successful in this role, you should have: • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or additional learning needs. • Experience within education, youth work, support work, residential care, mentoring, or similar settings. • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills. • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach. • The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations professionally. • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people. • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one. • Availability for full-time work, Monday to Friday.
