Job Title: Key Stage 4 SEND Teaching Assistant
Axcis Education are looking for a conscientious, compassionate and flexible teaching assistant to support students in a Key Stage 4 class at a renowned SEND school in Tilehurst, Reading. Given the types of SEND catered to by the school (Complex Needs, significant ASD, PMLD etc.), applicants must be willing to carry out personal care duties which will include accompanying pupils to the toilet, changing and feeding them. Prior experience of this is not compulsory but you will need to feel comfortable learning how to do this kind of work. Daily tasks typical of this role include supporting Key Stage 4 students with their school work, helping students in wheelchairs to move around the school, ensuring emotional well-being, supervising activities outside of the classroom, both 1:1 and in groups, and assisting in the maintenance of student hygiene. Candidates for this role are not required to be qualified or have high levels of experience, although of course these would be beneficial. Attributes such as patience, determination, adaptability and being comfortable working with SEND are, however, a must. Full-time hours are 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, and part-time hours are 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Wednesday.
