Calling all Geography teachers! Looking for your next teaching challenge? Then look no further! Axcis are pleased to be working with an alternative provision in Swindon who are looking to recruit an experienced secondary geography teacher. Ideally you will have experience teaching SEND and will have realised that this is where your teaching passion lies. The role starts in September and is part time three days a week Monday-Wednesday 8:30-3:30pm.
The PRU has an excellent Ofsted rating and its popularity amongst parents, children and staff is clear. The school has excellent resources and provides a supportive environment to all staff. It has large grounds and the children are encouraged to learn about nature and attend the school's forest school. Many of the children have difficult home lives and have been excluded many times, you will need to be resilient and be effective at de-escalation techniques. The students are taught in small groups of up to ten.
For this position you will need to be an experienced geography teacher with effective classroom management skills. You will need to be able to teach basic skills and if you can also teach other subjects that would be an added bonus. The PRU are looking for a teacher who is calm, professional and confident teaching within a specialist setting. Those with experience implementing EHC plans will be at an advantage. The successful candidate will have QTS and a PGCE be available to work immediately. There is excellent potential for teacher training in this school should you wish to progress your career further down the line. You will need to do a new DBS with us unless you have one on the update service.
Axcis offers competitive rates of pay and candidate care which is second to none and many of our consultants are ex-teachers or support staff with SEND experience, giving Axcis unparalleled knowledge of the sector. Axcis offers excellent training opportunities, including CPD training sessions on Autism Awareness, Team Teach, Behaviour Management and Non-verbal Communication, to name but a few.
