We are seeking to employ recently graduated drama students who want to gain experience working with children with special needs? Axcis would love to hear from you. We are currently recruiting for teaching assistants in a variety of mainstream, SEND schools, pupil referral units and alternativ provisions in and around the Swindon area. You need to have experience working with children or young people and experience of working with SEND such as autism, Asperger's, downs syndrome, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, SEMH and challenging behaviour will put you at an advantage. The hours will be 8:30-3:30pm. You need to be flexible working in a variety of settings and with a host of children with different needs. Some may be non verbal and you may have to do some personal care, knowledge of Makaton or PECS would be advantageous. We are looking for friendly, warm, empathetic individuals who are resilient and remain calm under pressure. Even though the role is on a supply basis, there is the opportunity to be flexible with your time and work up to five days a week. To work for us you must have a minimum of three months experience working with children or adults with learning disabilities. At Axcis, we value our teachers and support staff and the hard work they put in on a daily basis. This is why we always offer competitive rates of pay to ensure that their skills and experience are recognised. Axcis offers training that will help you to move from mainstream to SEND easily. Our training includes, but is not limited to; Autism Awareness, Moving and Handling and Non-verbal Communication. We also offer Team Teach courses run by our own accredited in-house Team Teach trainers. This is a temporary position.
