Are you a recently graduated drama student who wants to gain experience working with children within special education needs schools? Axcis want to hear from you.
We are recruiting for TAs or teaching assistants in a variety of mainstream and special needs schools across Bath and surrounding areas. Many drama grads have experience running drama workshops for children. You need to have experience working with children or young people with autism, Asperger's, downs syndrome, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, emotional and behavioural Difficulties. The hours will be 8:30-3:30pm and you need to be flexible working in a variety of settings and with a host of children with different needs. Some may be non verbal and you may have to do some personal care and manual handling. Knowledge of Makaton or PECS would be advantageous.
If you are a caring, friendly and patient individual seeking to gain experience within the special needs sector then this could be just the kind of role you're looking for. A positive can- do attitude and resilience would make you a great teaching assistant. Even though the role is on a supply basis, there is the opportunity to be flexible with your time and work up to five days a week. To work for us you must have a minimum of three months experience working with children or adults with learning disabilities. If you don't have a DBS on the update service, you will need to get a new one which will cost £50. We will also need a minimum of two references, one covering the last year and one from a job where you've worked with children or adults with special needs.

This is a temporary position unless otherwise stated.
Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.
