Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Cover Supervisor – Secondary School with SEND Provision – Havering
From £110 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | September Start
Axcis are working with a well-established secondary school in Havering who are seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and is confident leading a classroom, supporting learning and maintaining positive behaviour. The school has a strong inclusion team and supports students with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs and mild learning difficulties.
The school is based in Havering and is accessible by local bus and rail links, with parking available for staff where possible.
About the Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise lessons during teacher absence, ensuring pupils remain focused, engaged and supported with the work that has been set. You may also support within the school’s SEND provision or assist pupils who need additional guidance to access learning.
You will:
• Supervise KS3 and KS4 classes during teacher absence
• Deliver pre-set work and keep pupils focused on learning
• Support students with SEND, including autism, ADHD, SEMH and learning needs
• Use positive behaviour strategies to maintain a calm classroom environment
• Support small groups or individuals where required
• Work closely with teaching staff, the SENCO and pastoral team
• Help pupils build confidence, independence and positive learning habits
• Follow school routines and behaviour policies consistently
What We’re Looking For
• Previous experience working with young people in a school, SEND, youth work, coaching or mentoring setting
• Confidence leading a classroom and managing behaviour positively
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND would be highly desirable
• Strong communication and organisation skills
• A calm, proactive and resilient approach
• Ability to follow instructions while using initiative when needed
• Full-time availability and commitment to a long-term role from September
