About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of additional educational, social and emotional needs in a vibrant Walton primary setting. Working closely with class teachers and specialist staff, you will help deliver a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes each child’s progress and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with complex needs, implementing individualized learning plans.
• Assist the classroom teacher with lesson preparation, delivery and differentiation.
• Monitor student behaviour, record observations and communicate progress to teachers, parents and external agencies.
• Facilitate the use of assistive technology and adaptive resources.
• Support transitions (e.g., arrival, lunchtime, outings) and promote positive social interaction.
• Contribute to the development and review of risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
• GCSEs (or equivalent) – minimum grades 4/C in English and Mathematics.
• Recognised teaching assistant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3) or relevant experience with pupils of complex needs.
• Strong understanding of SEND legislation, SENDIST, and behaviour management strategies.
• Excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding standards.
Desirable
• Experience with autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, or severe learning difficulties.
• First Aid/Paediatric emergency training.
