Are you an experienced and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role? We are seeking a strong and confident individual to join our team at a primary school in Mitcham. You will provide dedicated support to a Year 1 child with challenging behaviour, ensuring they receive the consistent guidance and interventions needed to thrive.
Position Details:
• Role: SEND Teaching Assistant
• Location: Mitcham
• Contract Type: Full-time, ongoing
• Start Date: Immediate
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-to-one support for a Year 1 child with challenging behaviour, implementing consistent strategies to manage
and de-escalate tricky behaviours.
• Run targeted interventions, such as reading sessions, social skills groups, and other tailored activities.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to create and maintain an effective support plan.
• Foster a positive and nurturing environment that encourages the child’s emotional, social, and academic development.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents, adapting strategies as necessary.
Requirements:
• Experience: Significant experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant, particularly with students demonstrating
challenging behaviour.
• Skills: Confidence and consistency in managing behaviours, with a proactive and solution-focused approach.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with delivering interventions such as reading support and social skills groups.
• Attributes: A patient, compassionate, and resilient personality with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
