Calling out for all care assistants! We've been working with a large children's respite home in Bristol that comes to us for support staff. The children are aged 5-17 years old and stay for 1-3 nights at a time. Normally they live with their parents and just come to the respite home for a few days break for their parents. The needs the children have vary from autism and learning difficulties. The children don't have physical or medical needs and you won't be expected to do manual handling (using hoists) or doing personal care.
Shift patterns vary from lates 2-10pm, waking nights and sleep ins. In the week in term time the children will go to school so the morning shifts will be around 7-9am with a school drop off.
We're looking for staff that are reliable, proactive, trustworthy, patient and compassionate. Ideally you will have 3-6 months experience working with children or with adults with special needs. Those with NVQ's in health and social care/child care will be at an advantage. We get the rotas in advance so there is the opportunity to know shifts you're doing before hand and you can have regular shift patterns.
To work in these homes you will need to come in for a one hour registration meeting and we will need you to have a valid DBS in place and a minimum of two references.
Axcis can offer competitive rates of pay starting at £10.20 an hour and £11.50 for waking nights. We pay every week on a Friday a week in arrears.
If you are interested, then please contact Gemma Lee-Beresford at Axcis Education on 0117 373 6127.
This is a temporary position unless otherwise stated.
Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.
