Job Title: Behaviour Support TA
Wigan Based £11.50-£13.50 per hour Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of students? Do you possess the dedication and empathy to support high school students who are experiencing challenges with attendance? Axcis are currently seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a school in Wigan. This is a long-term opportunity to work closely with school refusers and help them overcome barriers to education. Responsibilities: • Work closely with students who are struggling with attendance issues, providing them with encouragement and support to overcome barriers to attendance. • Develop positive relationships with students to understand their individual needs and motivations. • Assist classroom teachers in implementing strategies to engage school refusers in learning activities. • Provide one-on-one support to students, both academically and emotionally, to help them progress academically and address any underlying issues contributing to their attendance difficulties. • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement personalised support plans for students. • Monitor and track student progress, keeping detailed records of interventions and outcomes. Qualifications: • Previous experience working with adolescents, particularly those facing attendance challenges, is preferred but not required. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students. • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations. • A commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity within the school community. • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school. • A relevant qualification in education or youth work is desirable but not essential.
