Job Description:
We are currently seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Specialist to join our thriving school located in the heart of Rochdale, Lancashire. We are committed to providing an inclusive educational environment where every student can succeed. Our ideal candidate will have substantial experience working with very challenging students and the ability to effectively de-escalate tough situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and run interventions designed to equip students with tools for adopting more positive behaviours.
- Provide specialized support for students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and those who have suffered trauma, using a trauma-informed approach.
- Collaborate with the school's behaviour team to support our most challenging students, ensuring their diverse needs are met.
- Reflect a high level of resilience and the capacity to adapt swiftly to various scenarios while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
- Use excellent verbal communication skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Constantly evaluate and respond to the needs of each student by thinking on your feet and delivering tailored support.
- Document and report on student progress and any incidents, maintaining clear and accurate records.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience with ASC students and an understanding of their needs.
- Demonstrated experience working with young people who have experienced trauma.
- A strong ability to de-escalate challenging behaviour and maintain a safe environment for all.
- Highly resilient with the capacity to adapt to changing situations.
- Evidence of running successful behavioural interventions.
- Must possess excellent verbal communication skills.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service is required for this role.
