Axcis Education is working with a secondary school in Islington that is looking to appoint a committed and experienced Behaviour Support Assistant to work on a full-time basis, supporting a student with complex needs.
The Role
This is a targeted one-to-one support role for a secondary-age pupil who is non-verbal and presents with behavioural challenges. You will be expected to:
Build a strong, trusting relationship with the student
Support the pupil’s engagement in lessons through personalised strategies
Use behaviour management techniques to promote a safe and inclusive learning environment
Communicate using alternative methods, including non-verbal techniques or assistive technology, where required
Collaborate closely with teaching and SEND staff to ensure consistent, structured support
Requirements
We are seeking candidates who have:
Experience working with young people who have complex needs, including behavioural difficulties and communication challenges
A calm, patient, and confident approach
Flexibility and the ability to work well as part of a team
A valid DBS certificate registered on the Update Service
