Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant
Axcis Education is recruiting on behalf of a mainstream secondary school based in Heaton, for a teaching assistant with prior experience of working in behaviour support to join the Pastoral Care Team. This is a full time ongoing role, with real potential for a permanent position. The successful candidate would be working KS3 and KS4 aged pupils who are at risk of being excluded, with the aim to engage the pupils more positively with their work and to act as a positive role model within the school environment. Prior experience of working with individuals with social, emotional and mental heath needs is required for this role. The school is a large mainstream secondary school in which a large proportion of pupils have SEMH needs. The school is located less than 10 minutes from the M60,the nearest train station is less than 15 minutes walk away and there are good bus links within a 5 minute walk. To be considered for this role, applicants will have prior experience working with SEMH needs, preferably in a school setting or a pastoral care department though the school is willing to consider experience from alternative sources. Knowledge of behaviour strategies will be looked upon favourably. You must be resilient and able to deal with challenging and sometimes confrontational situations. This role will suit someone who thrives on working with young people with challenging behaviour while being a positive role model. You will need to be experienced supporting children or vulnerable adults, however not necessarily in a school environment. Axcis offers free CDP and safeguarding training, along with competitive rates of pay.
