A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in EN4 is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated Autism Resource Provision (ARP) from September. This is an excellent opportunity to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a specialist provision within a mainstream secondary setting.
Working alongside teachers, the SENCO and specialist staff, you will help students access learning, develop independence and build the confidence needed to thrive throughout Key Stages 3 and 4. Specialist autism provisions within mainstream secondary schools are increasingly focused on personalised learning, communication, sensory regulation and preparing students for adulthood.
The Role
Support students with ASD in the school's Autism Provision and mainstream lessons where appropriate.
Deliver targeted interventions aligned with EHCP outcomes.
Encourage communication, emotional regulation and social interaction.
Use visual supports, structured routines and sensory strategies.
Promote independence and positive engagement with learning.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families.
The Ideal Candidate
Experience supporting students with ASD, preferably in a secondary setting.
Understanding of autism-friendly approaches and inclusive practice.
Patient, resilient and adaptable.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Experience with PECS, Makaton or sensory regulation strategies is advantageous.
