Looking for your next step in your SEND career? Axcis have a vacancy for a teaching assistant at a well respected specialist school in Tewkesbury working with a KS2 child with suspected autism and ADHD. The child is currently being assessed for diagnosis.
Rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, this fantastic specialist school has beautiful grounds and there is a strong focus on outdoor activities like gardening, horse riding and swimming. The school is well established and has a supportive welcoming atmosphere upon entering the grounds. The school uses alternative teaching techniques and is renowned as a centre of excellence. The school are looking for someone who is calm, patient and able to use their initiative.
The role starts in September and is five days a week with potential to continue till the end of term for the right candidate. The position is 1-1 in class support, you will need to quickly establish a good working relationship with the child Experience of working with children with autism is a must and the child has very limited communication skills and is very high energy. The ability to use Makaton and PECS would be highly advantageous.
