A Secondary special educational needs school based in Brent are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to work with them on a full-time basis. The School caters for students aged between 11to 18 years old with autistic spectrum disorders, including Asperger's Syndrome, Complex Needs, Speech and Language Difficulties and PMLD.
The successful teaching assistant will be working 1:1 with a student but may also interact with small groups of learners, so will need to be adaptable to ensure correct support is given. You must have prior experience working with Non-verbal, ASD students and have a natural ability within the classroom. You will need to be committed to providing support to learners with a range of needs, be flexible in your approach and able to work as part of a team. You will need excellent communication skills, along with patience and enthusiasm.
Previous experience with SEND is a requirement. Understanding and experience of using Makaton, PECs and sensory approaches are advantageous but not essential.
This is a full time, long term role to start September 2020.
