Axcis are currently recruiting for teachers to work in a specialist SEND school that has been rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted. We're looking for primary and secondary English, Maths, Science, ICT, Art, DT and RE teachers, if you can teach more than one subject even better. The school is situated in Midsommer Norton close to Radstock. The school regularly come to us for on the day supply and they regularly take staff on permanently. The majority of the students have autistic spectrum conditions. They also have a satellite resource for children with Asperger's. We are looking for staff that are flexible, compassionate and patient. If you have experience of Makaton and PECS you will be at an advantage, You will have taught children with special needs. Perhaps you are looking for flexible teaching work around other commitments and you're looking to expand your SEND experience. The students are aged 3-19 years old and are taught in small groups. Children study the national curriculum and are encouraged to succeed academically achieving GCSE's, BTECS, ASDAN and life skills. Subjects focused on are literacy, numeracy, Science, ICT, Art, DT and RE. There is a strong focus on supporting the students to find employment after school and the school has a project that focuses on providing the students with the skills, experience, knowledge and confidence to find employment after leaving the school. The school offers therapies including speech, music, drama, physiotherapy and occupational. There is a large and modern gym, a well equipped playground and a sensory room on site. To manage behaviour the school employs the SKIP method, if you have Team Teach though it is still beneficial . Pay rates are great and we pay every week, a week in arrears. To work for us you will need to come in for a one hour registration meeting, you will need a valid DBS on the update service and a minimum of two references. You will get a calendar and you can choose how many days each week you want to work, we ask that you only apply if you can do two days a week.
