Job Title: SEND Tutor
Location: Haringey, London
Start Date: January 2025
An exceptional sixth form college in Haringey is seeking a passionate and committed SEND Tutor to join their team, supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities to achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a SEND Tutor, you will work collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams to provide targeted support for students with a range of learning needs. Your role will involve creating tailored intervention plans, delivering one-to-one and small group support sessions, and helping students build confidence and independence in their learning journey.
You will play a vital role in promoting an inclusive learning environment, ensuring that every student has access to the support they need to succeed both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver personalised support for students with SEND, in line with their Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) or identified learning needs.
Liaise with subject teachers to adapt learning materials and teaching approaches.
Foster a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes positive outcomes for SEND students.
Monitor and record progress, ensuring interventions are impactful and effectively meet individual needs.
Work collaboratively with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure holistic support for students.
Contribute to the wider SEND strategy, sharing ideas and best practices.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
A background in supporting students with SEND, ideally within a secondary or post-16 education setting.
Strong understanding of SEND legislation, including EHCPs and the SEND Code of Practice.
Patience, empathy, and excellent interpersonal skills.
An ability to inspire and motivate students with diverse needs and abilities.
Relevant qualifications in SEND support (e.g., Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning) or teaching experience in a similar role.
