Axcis are pleased to be working with a mainstream school in Liverpool who are looking to recruit an experienced teaching assistant to support KS3 and KS4 learners with ADHD and mild autism. The students are all verbal and high functioning, routine is important to them and any changes in routine need to be explained to them with enough notice.
The school has a very friendly atmosphere and a supportive environment, and is well liked by all staff we have sent to them in the past. Situated in North Liverpool the school has been described as having a positive and inclusive working ethos and has excellent links to public transport. There are ample parking facilities and the school grounds are beautiful.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working with either children or adults with autism. Maybe you've been a support worker for adults but you want to transition into working with children. You will be a role model, mentor and daily support to the children you will be working with and will need to be able to establish a good working relationship with them. Resilience is an essential trait as some of the children have challenging behaviour. You must have a calm nature and ability to de-escalate situations. The successful candidate will be creative, flexible and patient as well as being compassionate and empathetic.
Axcis Education is a specialist recruitment company for SEND that was established in July 2001, and is now recognised as the foremost supplier of quality SEND teaching and support staff in the UK. You will need to come in for a one hour registration meeting, after that everything can be done over the phone and via email. You will need a valid DBS on the update service and a minimum of two references, preferably one from a job or volunteering role where you've worked with children or with people with special needs.
This is a temporary position in a long-term capacity
If you are interested, then please contact Nick Passmore at Axcis Education on 0151 448 2810.
This is a temporary position unless otherwise stated.
Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.

All staff will be subject to our stringent vetting procedures, which include an enhanced DBS, full work history, references and a face-to-face interview.
