Job Title: Secondary Teaching Assistant, Full time, Gloucester
Axcis are working with a large mainstream secondary school in central Gloucester who are looking for a full time experienced teaching assistant to work with pupils aged 11 to 16 years (KS2/ KS4) providing a mixture of 1-1 and group support where needed.
This role is to start asap and you will need to be available from 8:30 - 3:30, Monday to Friday, have a flexible, can do attitude and be reliable, resilient and empathetic and the suitable candidate must feel confident working with individual pupils in a public area or group work in the school lessons. This is a long term role that ends at the end of the summer term in 2025.
The position itself is a mixture of 1:1 support for a student with ASD and ACE who needs lots of support to stay regulated as she reintegrates back into the classroom (up to 4/5ths of role). The remaining is broader support in the school possibly with a focus on reintegration if this is an area of interest to you.
Some information on the recently rated outstanding school:
*The school is a purpose built school with a fantastic outside area and a secure environment to work in with great resources.
*The school has a large staff car park but also great access for those using public transport.
*There is a well established, approachable senior leadership team very who are always on hand for any support
The ideal candidate will have experience working with either children or adults in a classroom setting. The students respond best to a firm but fair, kind and supportive approach and so if this is your style of support then that would be ideal.
You will ideally be a role model, advisor, mentor and daily support to the young people you will be working with and if you feel that you can build relationships well and the above sounds like you, then I want to hear from you!
Axcis offers excellent training opportunities, including qualifications such as NVQ Level Two Teaching Assistant as well as CPD training, courses and qualifications on Autism Awareness, Team Teach, Behaviour Management and Non-verbal Communication, to name but a few. For this role, you will need to either have an in date Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service or be willing to pay for a new one.
