Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: West Bromwich (B70)
Contract: Full-time (Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm)
Pay: From £89 per day / £13.86 per hour
Start Date: December 2025
A primary school in West Bromwich is looking to welcome a reliable and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to their team. The school is known for its supportive environment and is seeking someone who can build positive relationships with pupils who have a range of additional needs, including ASD and ADHD.
The role involves working closely with class teachers and the SENCO to help pupils stay engaged, feel supported, and make steady progress. You may be working one-to-one at times or supporting smaller groups depending on the needs within the class.
This position is full-time, though the school will consider part-time applicants who can commit to four days per week. There is also potential for the role to become permanent.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-to-one or small-group support for pupils with various SEN needs
• Assist with learning tasks, routines, and classroom activities
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, confidence, and behaviour
• Help implement the strategies outlined in pupils’ IEPs
• Work closely with staff to create an encouraging and inclusive classroom atmosphere
Requirements:
• Experience working in a school or educational setting is preferred
• Previous experience supporting children with SEN or vulnerable adults, is essential
• Full-time availability is preferred; part-time considered (minimum 4 days)
• Someone patient, adaptable, and confident working with children who may have additional needs
• Good communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team
• A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
