Things that you must see in London
Big Ben
This is one of London’s biggest (quite literally) and best FREE (yes you heard it) FREE tourist attractions. You will be surprised at how good it looks. When you walk out of Westminster Underground station you look up and BANG! There it is.
Interesting fact: Big Ben is actually the nickname for the great bell of the clock in the clock tower of the Palace of Westminster. It is also the third largest free standing chiming clock in the world.
The Tower of London
London Tower has a ridiculous amount of history. It is a fortress where Kings and Queens have been born, people have been tortured and killed and now houses the crown jewels. This attraction does cost money to get into (approximately £17.00) but is definitely worth it!
Tower Bridge
The bridge itself leads into The Tower of London fortress. It is a magnificent piece of architecture and workmanship. It crosses the Thames and still opens for tall ships that sail down the themes. You can search for the times and be there to watch it open.
Interesting fact: Tower Bridge is often mistaken for London Bridge and an urban legend that goes with this misconception is that an American bought the London Bridge in 1968 and had it shipped all the way to Arizona where he had it reassembled only to find that he had bought the wrong bridge. Costly mistake!
Camden Markets
These markets sell all sorts of things from clothes to wear to your next rave party to stuff that would seem more suited to Amsterdam. It is a great place to go and have a walk around and has something for everyone. A good day out to be had by all!
Others
- Buckingham Palace (Where the queen lives)
- Piccadilly Circus (Big screens on the buildings, much the same as Times Square, New York, and a big roundabout with lots of ‘Big Red Busses’)
- Trafalgar Square (Big lions on podiums and the National Art Gallery)
