SSAT - An Independent Network for SEN Schools

Axcis has a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the SSAT which helps us share and expand good practice.  The SSAT works with schools throughout England to raise achievement for students of all ages and backgrounds by developing practices which help improve standards.  Their approach is 'by schools, for schools' and there is no other comparable network that enables school leaders and practitioners to access leading practice and innovation in other schools.  The SSAT works closely with schools and chains to improve outcomes for children, enhance teacher quality, develop students as independent learners, introduce innovative approaches to curriculum content, design and delivery, and showcase best and (was two spaces between best & and) next practice from across the country and around the world.  Over 400 special schools around England are members of the SSAT.  This provides access to their networks and services for every member of staff and student in the school.  SSAT events and activities are shaped by the special schools network steering group.  Every region is represented on the steering group by a leading Head Teacher who guides the work of the network and operates as a collective voice at local, regional and national level.
