From Heathrow you have 2 main options of getting into central London, The Heathrow Express or the good old tube! |
The Heathrow Express can get you into Paddington Station in just 15 minutes with plenty of room on board for your luggage. However it is a much more expensive option costing from £16.50 one way, although you can save money if you travel in a group larger than 4 or if you pre-book online. Tickets can be purchased from the ticket machines, there will be signs that you can follow to ‘Heathrow Express’. From Paddington there are 4 tube lines the Circle line, District line, Bakerloo line or Hammersmith & City Line, as well as numerous bus lines. http://www.heathrowexpress.com |

The tube is also an easy and popular option, it does take longer but is substantially cheaper. From all Heathrow terminals you can catch the Piccadilly Line all the way into central London or hop off somewhere along the way and swap tube lines to get where you need to go. To use the tube your best bet is to buy an oyster card. An oyster card will cost you £3, you will need to top it up with credit to use the tube, an average journey can cost up to £4. You will need one oyster card per person, it is not possible to share an oyster card. From Heathrow follow the signs to the ‘underground trains’, there you will find a desk where you can buy an oyster card and credit, here you can also pick up a tube map! Don’t be scared to ask tube staff for advice on your journey that’s what they’re there for! Click here for a printable tube map - http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/standard-tube-map.pdf |
