Nursery Teacher Jobs
A Nursery teacher is expected to have a full recognised teaching qualification with QTS but during training may choose to specialise in Early Years, ie Nursery, Reception or the Foundation stage of education. This is referred to as EYFS and has it’s own goals and targets under the National Curriculum which the teacher is expected to meet. As with any teacher you are expected to prepare and assess work, monitor the learning, emotional development and social skills of pupils and report to parents and carers. You may also be responsible for management and the most effective use of a team of support workers in the classroom like Nursery Nurses, Teaching Assistants and volunteers.
Nursery Nurse Jobs
Demand for qualified Nursery Nurses is increasing and there are placements available in Nursery and Infant schools, private Nurseries, family centres and hospitals as well as Special Needs schools. The recognised qualifications are NNEB, CACHE and NVQ Level 3. A Nursery Nurse must be prepared to work with other professionals like teaching assistants and social workers as well as developing a close and effective working relationship with the teacher in charge. Our NNs can choose to work in short or longer-term placements with 0-7 year olds and are expected to assist with developing the children’s social and emotional skills, support the National Curriculum EYFS and be responsible for feeding and changing as required. For candidates with an interest in SEN, many skills are transferable as young people with PMLD may be learning at Level 1 of the NC and also require the physical support needed by my younger pupils. Please tell us if you have a particular interest in SEN.
