Bank Account

We have an association with Barclays Bank (one of the UK's biggest banks)which allows our Antipodean teachers to open savings accounts with minimal fuss. You will need to provide minimal documentation (in most cases just a a passport). The Barclays Branch is located just a 2 minute walk from the Axcis office so we can organise your bank appointment to coincide with your initial Axcis interview.

Mobile Phone Sim Card

We can supply you with a sim card for one of the leading mobile phone service providers on arrival. The sim card is completely free you will just need to pop some credit on it. You can either purchase a new compatible phone in the UK or it is also sometimes possible to unlock your existing phone before arriving.

National Insurance Number

The National Insurance Number is similar to a TFN (Tax File Number) in Australia, IRD (Inland Revenue Department) Number in New Zealand, ITN (Individual Tax Number) and an IT (Income Tax) number in South Africa.

The NI number is not compulsory here and you do not need one before you begin work. In most circumstances you would be required to pay emergency tax until you have one at which case you would get all of the extra tax back that you have paid in the following weeks, however, if you are paid through ISS Ltd this is not needed as urgently. We are able to apply for one on your behalf when you begin working for us and this makes the process much easier. You would usually need to arrange a time within regular working hours to attend an interview at a ‘Job Centre’ and provide identity documents and answer some questions. We can cut this part out by sending off a few forms. This speeds the process up for you and you don’t have to miss out on a days work to get it. Everyone wins!

Accommodation

We have many trusted services and websites which can provide you with information on accommodation. Megan can also help you ddecide which area and what type of accommodation might suit you best.
