An experienced Student Support Worker (SSW) is required on a permanent contract at a lovely residential SEN school in South Gloucestershire.
The ideal SSW will have extensive experience working with young people with SEN, particularly those with challenging behaviour. In particular the school caters for the needs of young people affected with severe learning difficulties (SLD), difficulties with communication (ASC), transition and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).
The school delivers a Steiner approach; therefore the successful SSW will be open to the educational principles articulated by Rudolf Steiner and Karl Konig. Those with knowledge of the National Minimum Standard for Residential Special Schools, an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent qualification) and First Aid certificate will be at an advantage.
The schools are looking for a SSW who has excellent organisational and planning skills. Experience of maintaining and writing reports is desirable. Furthermore the ideal SSW must have the confidence to meet difficult situations with a calm and mature attitude.
Hours: 42.5hrs per week, shift rotation, no nights.
