Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant who is committed to making a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and helping them to overcome barriers they face within education?
This challenging yet rewarding opportunity has arisen for a TA starting ASAP within an expanding Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Birmingham.

This Teaching Assistant position will involve supporting Key stage 3 students that are unable to access mainstream school or those that have been excluded. Assisting students on a one to one basis, and in small groups across a variety of lessons, as well as getting involved with a range of extra-curricular activities. To be successful you will need to encourage pupils to engage using a flexible approach and the ability to deal with challenging behaviour whilst maintaining calm is essential.
This Pupil Referral Unit caters for pupils aged 11 to 16 that come from a variety of backgrounds and with a range of needs including Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties. Their main aim is to integrate students back into mainstream school and improve confidence, social and life skills.

To join the Axcis team and be successful in this SEN Teaching Assistant role you will need to:
* Be experienced working with students with a range of needs, such as challenging behaviour
* Have a flexible and patient approach when working with young people
* Build and develop positive relationships with both school staff and students
* Strong behaviour management, with a calm but firm attitude
