Cover Supervisor needed in a Secondary School in Taunton | Somerset | Secondary Teacher Jobs
Axcis are currently recruiting a cover supervisor for a large, successful secondary school in Taunton. (This is a 28.5 hours per role, term time only.)
To supervise whole classes during the absence of teachers. The Cover Supervisors will give instructions for the lesson as provided by a teacher and the primary focus of the role will be to maintain good order and keep pupils on task. The Cover Supervisor will respond to general questions and provide general feedback to teachers, but will not be required to undertake 'specified work' (planning, preparation, delivery, assessment, recording and reporting of achievement, progress and development). It is also envisaged that this role will involve some assistance in the administration support of curriculum teams and general pastoral work when not supervising students.
Main responsibilities and Duties:
"Supervise the work of whole classes set by their class/subject teacher in accordance with school policy
"Supervise students engaged in learning activities
"Act as a role model and set high expectations of conduct, behaviour and dress
"Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom
"Keep pupils on task and respond to general queries
"Provide objective and accurate feedback to the teacher on the conduct of the lesson
"Promote positive values, attitudes and good student behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with school policies and encourage students to take responsibility for their own behaviour and actions
"Register and record pupil attendance in lessons
"Manage the behaviour of pupils to ensure a constructive learning environment
"Collect completed work after the lesson and return it to the appropriate teacher
"Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, equal opportunities, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
"Be aware of and support the fact that all students are different and able to contribute in their own way
"Ensure all students have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
"Participate in training and other learning activities as required
"Attend relevant school meetings as required
"To respect confidentiality at all times
"Deal with any immediate problems or emergencies according to school policies and procedures
