Two SEN Teacher positions starting September 2012.
This comprehensive secondary school based in Tower Hamlets is looking for two full time SEN teachers to join a SEN department of 10 teaching staff and almost 50 SEN support staff.
One of the positions will need experience of delivering lower school literacy and possibly English at lower levels in the upper school.
The other will involve working with/having responsibility for some statemented pupils who are at P levels, or low learning levels. This will include small group numeracy and literacy teaching for these pupils, curriculum support, in particular advice and support with appropriate differentiation, advising TAs working with these pupils and managing the statements.
The ideal candidate must have great personality and experience for working with SEN students in a mainstream setting.
They are looking for someone who could potentially be looking for a long-term post at the school. They are looking for someone who is committed and does not see their career as 'just' working as a supply teacher for a recruitment company.
The school is a large specialist art school with students coming from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds with those of Bangladeshi heritage forming just over half of the school's population. A high proportion of the students speak English as an additional language. The proportion of students who have learning difficulties and/or disabilities is higher than average and the proportion with a statement of special educational need is very high. The school has recently been entirely rebuilt and is full of modern facilities.
