Job Title: 1:1 Student Support – College - Torbay
Axcis education are looking for a student support assistant to work in an alternative, creative college in the Torbay area. The role is to support students with complex needs, who often require close support in a 1:1 or a 2:1 ratio. At times, the role also includes working with students in small groups. Therefore, previous experience working with children or students is desirable, but not essential. This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday (9.00-16.30) term time only. Rate of pay will vary between £85-£100 a day, depending on your previous experience. The option of a full-time, permanent contract is available for the successful applicant. The college is part of a registered charity providing opportunities and support for adults with learning disabilities who have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP). The college is staffed by specialist practitioners with a wide range of arts interests and professional experience. Experience of working with adult with disabilities is desirable, but not essential. The college programme includes the following: • Diverse curriculum coverage, such as art, drama, dance, mixed-media, photography, media production, music technology and digital storytelling. • The college’s curriculum covers a range of personalised and accredited programmes that supports students to transition into adulthood. • Students develop independent living skills, providing therapeutic input and building employability skills. • Students are set bespoke goals based off targets set out by their education and health care plan (EHCP). The successful applicant will be driven to help students succeed by building, and establishing, excellent relationships. You will have a passion for vocational studies, supporting students to develop their subject knowledge, understanding of new concepts and acquisition of new skills.
