Ciara, Irish Teacher
Hi Ciara, how many years experience do you have teaching in Ireland?
Yeah I trained in Ireland and have 8 years experience.
What made you want to teach in the UK?
I originally came here just for a change of scenery, and eventually started teaching as it was what I always wanted to do.
Did you need a Visa?
No, I have an EU passport.
When you arrived did you have friends/family to stay with?
I was staying with friends at first, after which I found my own place.
If not, how did you arrange your accommodation? What sources did you use? How difficult was it?
With the help and guidance of my friends, it was not very difficult to find a suitable place.
How have you found teaching in London? Good points?
As I am from Ireland, I guess it’s really the same, not much difference at all.
What things should teachers be aware of when planning to come here?
Get your CRB check in advance if you can and have your NQT status. It took 3 months to get my CRB.
Have you any regrets?
No.
Have you done much travelling (if they have been here a while)? What destinations?
No. Not really.
Would you recommend the London experience to other Irish teachers? Why and what have you enjoyed?
Definitely, more experience can help you teach in awesome locations across the globe.
11)Is there anything else you would like to add?
No.
Thank you for your time Ciara
