New Zealand Teachers

Welcome to the New Zealand trained teachers section of
Axcis.

This section is designed to make leaving New Zealand to come and live and teach in the UK easy (well easier!).

At Axcis, we have teachers from New Zealand here to help prepare you for what lies ahead – we know where you have come from and know what changes you are likely to face in and outside of the classroom.

London, England and Europe are exciting places to come to – especially if it is your first time out of the Southern Hemisphere. Axcis understands you may like to secure a long term position or to have the flexibility to travel and teach – just let us know what your requirements are.

Below are the Key Steps you will need to take before leaving New Zealand. Click on the headings for a full explanation.

  1. Register with Axcis through the website
Following your registration you can return to this page
  2. Right to Work in the UK
  3. Police check
  4. Teaching qualifications
  5. Read about New Zealand teachers in London
  6. Was this information useful

Nb. For more about locations, updating your application, travel, accommodation, bank accounts, mobile phones and more please see our getting started page.

2. Right to Work in the UK

To work in the UK you will need a work visa or work permit. These can take up to three months to organise. Start the process as soon as possible by contacting your local British High Commission or Embassy. If you do not qualify for a work visa we may be able to organise a work permit for you.

In order to gain pre-entry clearance to take up employment in the United Kingdom it will be necessary to complete some of the following forms. Please contact your local British Mission for more information.

  • IM2A - Application for United Kingdom entry clearance - Must be completed by all applicants.
  • IM2B - Application for settlement.
  • IM2C - Persons applying for permit free employment/businessmen and self-employed persons / persons of independent means including working holiday makers.
  • IM2D - Right of Abode of UK Ancestry.
  • IM2E - For persons who have previously been refused entry clearance.
  • IM2F - Additional information.

People applying for a work visa from New Zealand should make their enquires to the British mission in Wellington.

3. How to Request a New Zealand Police Clearance Certificate or similar

As you will be working with children we will need evidence of a police check. There is no such document as a police certificate or police clearance but people can apply for a copy of their records. The form is to be returned by you to the New Zealand Licensing and Vetting Services Centre.

The NZ courts website for more information, http://www.courts.govt.nz/privacy/ which has a downloadable form http://www.courts.govt.nz/privacy/#application
