Equal Opportunities Policy
1.0 General Statement of Policy
1.1 It is our policy not to discriminate against any prospective employees, employees, associates, consultants and clients whatever their race, colour, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic or national origins, mental or physical condition, age or marital status.
1.2 All employees, associates and consultants will treat all clients and members of the public equally and will not discriminate against them because of their race, colour, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic or national origins, mental or physical condition, age or marital status.
1.3 No reports written or verbal or any documentation issued or drafted by any our employees, associates or consultants shall contain implied or explicit discrimination due to race, colour, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic or national origins, mental or physical condition, age or marital status.
1.4 It is our policy comply with the Race Relations Act 1976, the Sex Discrimination Act 1975, the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 the Equal Pay act 1970 the Commission for Racial Equality's Code of Practice for Employment 1983 the Employment Equality Regulations (Sexual Orientation) 2003 and the Employment Equality Regulations (Religion or Belief) December 2003.
2.0 Recruitment & Promotion
2.1 As an equal opportunities employer we are fully committed to establish and maintain a working environment in which recruitment and promotion within the company is based on merit.
2.2 We will provide terms and conditions, training, promotion and appraisal without regard to race, colour, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic or national origins, mental or physical condition, age or marital status.
2.3 No applicant for employment will be treated less favourably than another on the grounds of race, colour, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic or national origins, mental or physical condition, age or marital status (except where there are legal limitations, e.g. persons aged over 65 and under 18 in certain jobs).
2.4 We will ensure that selection decisions will be made on ability only using objective job related criteria.
2.5 It is our policy to maintain a workforce that broadly reflects the local community in which we operate. To this end our recruitment methodology centres around advertising in local daily newspapers and job centres.
2.6 It is our policy to monitor and analyse information from job applicants to include data relating to their racial or ethnic group, gender, marital status and disability status.
3.0 Discrimination and Harassment
3.1 Any acts of discrimination including harassment will be grounds for disciplinary action and any complaints raised will be handled through our grievance procedure.
3.2 In the event of any employee, associate or consultant being found to have contravened the policy then disciplinary or other appropriate action will ensue. Steps to prevent future non-compliances will be undertaken.
4.0 Responsibility
4.1 Overall responsibility for the application of the policy rests with the Managing Director. However all employees particularly those in Management along with associates and consultants have a personal responsibility to apply this policy.
4.2 Any employee, associate, consultant or client who believes that an infringement of the policy has occurred must report the matter to the Managing Director.
5.0 Communicating the Policy
5.1 All prospective employees, employees, associates, consultants and clients will receive a copy of this equal opportunities policy.
5.2 It is our policy to communicate the main theme of our policy in advertising material.
6.0 Monitoring and Review
6.1 To make the policy work requires much more than this formal statement. It is the duty of all employees, associates and consultants to accept their responsibilities for ensuring that they comply with the obligations of this policy.
6.2 Our policy is subject to regular review and where necessary action will be taken to change employment policies and practices and provide further equal opportunities.
