Classroom Assistants - SEN Experience Required
At Axcis we are expanding our SEN department by way of assigning a consultant specifically to recruiting and placing Teaching Assistants. Our aim is to find the best of the best - those with the necessary Special Needs experience and the right personality to go with it - and to find a support position (LSA, TA) well suited to their skills and preferences.
Special Educational Needs can be vast and varied. You may have heard of terms such as PMLD, SLD, EBD and Autism, among others. These terms are used to refer to many different types of needs, and cover areas such as learning difficulties, behavioural and emotional difficulties, and physical disabilities. You will encounter SEN statemented pupils in the mainstream setting as well as in Special schools (schools dedicated to working only with such pupils), and it is vitally important that you are aware of your roles and responsibilities in either situation. For example, EBD schools may have restraint procedures in place and PMLD schools will expect you to help with feeding and toiletting the young people as required.
The needs of these individuals are of paramount importance, and it is for this reason that we will only consider TA’s and LSA’s with experience of working with special needs pupils. If you do not have experience in these areas, Axcis will be unable to assist in finding the right post for you. If you DO have such experience please do not hesitate to register - we are always eager to work with you!
