Linda, Australian Teacher

Hi Linda, how many years experience do you have teaching in Australia?

I was a fairly new teacher so I had about 1 years experience before coming to the UK.

What made you want to teach in the UK?

I guess I wanted to travel.

Did you need a Visa? If so, what Visa are you on? How hard was it to get?

I have a Dual Nationality, so there was no problem at all for me.

When you arrived did you have friends/family to stay with?

I had family here.

How have you found teaching in London? Good points?

Yeh, it’s good. I enjoy it. It’s real easy to get around, I mean public transport is real easy here.

What things should teachers be aware of when planning to come here?

I'm not sure. I guess they will just need help with opening bank accounts and National Insurance and stuff.

Have you any regrets?

No!

Have you done much travelling (if they have been here a while)? What destinations?

Ooh, I have been to so many places. I guess most of Europe and Africa. Quite a lot actually.

Would you recommend the London experience to other Australian teachers? Why and what have you enjoyed?

I would. I guess London is the place to start as it’s English speaking, so there’s no problem for Australian’s, here. There’s lots of work and lots of vacancies. I would definitely recommend it.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Not really. I would recommend Axcis to anyone, that's all.

Thank you for your time Linda
